Where can a good ol boy find a part time job where you don’t have to work or worry all that much? Even the post office can’t be counted in anymore, and they make you work 50 hour weeks. Might as well start some sort of crypto scam. Everyone’s telling themselves they just gotta have a big break before they can take a big break, and then they can finally break in.

Blood Meridian is a special read, and you're right about the peak of English writing appearing in it, but my favorite of his has to be Suttree.

Yes, it's lovely to read Mr Taco's appreciation of McCarthy but I do think his readership unfamiliar with Cormac's work might more enjoy Suttree.

There's something utterly soothing about reading Vonnegut as opposed to reading Pynchon.

I had to read gravity's rainbow for a college class and I got through it but it wasn't easy. That same class we read Cosmos and The Recognitions.

Gimme the warm weather. My own space. Women? Optional. If anything happens on that front, it will be at her place, or a room in a watering hole. My space will only be used by me. I’ve gotten too old to do things I have neither the inclination, nor the time, to do. Drama with women being one!

Great little review and peek inside the lives of two greats. Thank you.

Vonnegut and McCarthy were a big step down from, like, Hemingway. Who himself is a step down from Jack London. Who you can imagine would have looked at Vonnegut and McCarthy like dogshit stuck to his shoe.
